Why SigEp?

SigEp is the largest National Fraternity in the nation. While this is a claim that several fraternities make, SigEp has the largest active undergraduate membership, not the most chapters or total alumni. The bottom line is that there are more active SigEps in the country than in any other fraternity.

Here at Drake, SigEp is #1! In manpower, grades and athletics, SigEp is leaps and bounds ahead of all other fraternities at Drake.

Founding 1901 at the U. of Richmond
Local Charter May 9, 1948
Chapter Name Iowa Delta
Philanthropy Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

All of the brothers at SigEp are very active on campus and in the classroom. Furthermore they are willing to help anyone that is interested in becoming more involved at Drake.

Our brothers are close-knit and enjoy each other's company. Through our mentoring process and the Balanced Man Program, our older brothers help our younger brothers academically, as well as encouraging them to get involved and simply have fun.

Finally, SigEp has a high academic standard. Members must attain a 2.75 GPA to be in good standing-and most members surpass that standard easily. More than two dozen of our members have earned distinction on the Dean's List or President's List for in their respective schools. Finally, SigEp ranks at the top of the fraternities in overall chapter GPA.

In short, SigEp offers a brotherhood committed to academic excellence and learning together in a college atmosphere. We invite you to e-mail us with any questions you may have about SigEp…we'd be happy to talk to you!

Rush

Like all other social fraternities at Drake, Sigma Phi Epsilon will participate in formal Rush. We encourage all Drake men to rush for a fraternity and discover what Greek Life has to offer. If you are interested in rushing, pay attention to sign-up dates posted on campus or when you come to Drake. If you have additional questions regarding rush, click here.

No Pledging

Drake SigEp is the only fraternity on-campus which does not have a pledge process. Nationally, SigEp does not advocate a pledge process, as it fosters stereotypical traditions such as hazing and belittling of younger members. Instead, the Balanced Man Program allows a more self paced process in which members gain the same knowledge about the fraternity and sense of brotherhood that traditional pledge processes try to instill. Thus, new members have all the same privileges and rights as older members upon entering the fraternity. And like all other Drake fraternities, Drake SigEp stands strongly behind a no-hazing policy.

Recruitment After Rush

After the formal rush period has ended, Drake SigEp will continue to recruit. Because SigEp does not have a pledge process, new members are allowed to join at any time--not just during formal procedures. If you are interested in becoming a member of Drake SigEp, contact the Vice President of Recruitment, Brady Wolfe.
